Calorie restriction can avoid aging – Studies

Aging in humans can considerably be prolonged, if you can control the calorie intake. This study was actually done in Rhesus monkey, which is one of the commonest study samples, when comparison is to be done in humans.

University of Wisconsin researchers gave 30% fewer calories to a group of Rhesus monkeys, and over the years, its observed that this group has slowed down the aging process. And another big advantage of this has been the reduction in age-related illnesses like diabetes, cancer, and heart disease.
The animals that were specially fed with 30% less calories seemed to be biologically younger than the normal diet animals.

Calorie restriction can avoid aging - StudiesThe case group had only 13% animals dying due to age-related illness, whereas the control group which was normally fed, had 37% deaths due to the same reason. The same effect might be seen in humans too. As most of the experiments usually are done on the Rhesus monkey and they work good in humans if tested correctly in the animals.

The research also included rapamycin antibiotic usage in Mice, which was pretty effective, but still the effect on humans is yet to be confirmed.

Apart from the controlled diet, if some regular exercise and yoga are accompanied, then the aging process in humans can be delayed by a lot. The calorie-rich food has always been one of the big reasons for obesity, and heart problems in the long-run.
