One of the best things in makeup application is being able to play around with colors. With thousands of different hues available, you can create hundreds of different color combinations to suit every whim and fancy. You can even have your own signature combination of colors if you so desire.
It is, perhaps, the primary goal of any lipstick is to provide color to the lips in order to create an illusion of beautifully-shaped lips as well as enhance the overall beauty of the person. But lipsticks nowadays are seldom used alone. In order to achieve the desired look, lipsticks often go hand in hand with lip lining pencils. Lip lining pencils or lip liners give the lips shape and more definition. A lip lining pencil is used to draw a line around the mouth and give the lips its eventual shape. Some makeup artists or beauty experts seem to suggest that applying lip color to the lips first before outlining the shape of the lips using a lip lining pencil is better than applying it after an outline has already been drawn. However, the general rule, and the more widely acceptable method is to first make an outline of the shape of the lips beginning at the center of the mouth before filling it with lip color.

One important thing to remember is that the shade of the lip lining pencil must be the exact shade of the lip color that you will be using. Colors that clash are very unsightly and will defeat the very purpose of the existence of the lipstick. Another tip to keep in mind when looking for the perfect shade is how it will complement your skin. If you have light skin, go for reds or darker shades of pink. If you have darker skin, however, deep reds, burgundy or corals will look best on you.
