Nowadays a deadly disease named swine influenza has created a menace among the people in different countries across the world. The swine influenza is also known as swine flu in short. Technically speaking, it is also called the H1N1 flue and from a more crude perspective, it is known as the pig flu or the hog flu.
The swine influenza virus or SIV in short, is one among the numerous varieties of influenza viruses that is particularly endemic in nature in pigs. In the current crisis faced by the common mass from various facets of the society, the SIV includes the influenza C and correspondingly the different subtypes of the influenza A, for instance H1N1, H3N1 etc.
The swine influenza virus can be found in the swine populations in the world. The transmission of this virus from the pigs to human bodies is not a common phenomenon as it is being made up, and frequently results in the formation of antibodies in bloodstream. If by any chance, human influenza occurs, then it is called the zoonotic type of swine flu. Due to obvious reasons, people with regular contacts to pigs are more prone to be attacked by this virus and incurring this dangerous infection. A more notable point in this regards is that the meat of an infected pig, when properly washed and cooked, is potentially free from any risk of causing any sort of infection.

The symptoms of being infected by the virus of swine influenza are more or less similar to the symptoms shown by the illness caused by typical influenza, for example, fever, pain in throat, continuous coughing, weakness of the body, pain in the muscles, severe headache to name a few.
The crisis which the people of the world is witnessing at present saw its outbreak in the United States of America and then in Mexico. As per the current data released by the WHO, 170 countries across the globe are affected by this deadly virus with a toll of about 4500 people. The concerned authorities and world health bodies are doing their best to prevent this disease to spread and controlling it from the roots by a thorough medical services and crisis management practices.
